2009 CANADA'S RIVERS DECLARATION

You are invited to influence the future direction of Canadian rivers by participating in the implementation of the 2009 Canada's Rivers Declaration!

The 6^th Canadian River Heritage Conference is committed to a "Legacy" project wherein today's vision for rivers, the essence of river challenges and the required action for Canadian rivers is captured in a clear, concise statement.

The citizen-led initiative is a compilation of ideas and suggestions from conference delegates and interested river enthusiasts to collectively affirm the vision and values for Canada's rivers, while recognizing key challenges and providing recommendations for implementation. The Declaration was presented to delegates at the 6th Canadian River Heritage Conference to obtain additional feedback and endorsement of the final Declaration.

During the Conference, the final Declaration was passed on to the Chair of the 7th Canadian River Heritage Conference, along with a group of interested individuals, who will ensure the Declaration is presented to relevant leaders, stakeholders and interested individuals for implementation and follow-up action. Results from this “Legacy” project will be presented at the next River Heritage Conference in 2012.
