Cross Canada Canoe Odyssey Finishes Paddle!

Congratulations to the crew of the Cross Canada Canoe Odyssey, who successfully completed their paddle across Canada from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean on October 4, 2011.

The crew departed from Vancouver in April 2011 and paddled their way across Canada (view their route).   They arrived in St. John, New Brunswick Oct. 4, 2011. Their paddle across the country included trips on the following CHRS rivers: the Fraser, the North Saskatchewan, Boundary Waters /Voyageur Waterway, the French, the Ottawa and the St. John.

The Cross Canada Canoe Odyssey, which has been recognized as the Royal Canadian Geographic Society’s Expedition of the Year for 2011, worked to raise awareness of the CHRS during their journey.

Paddling Across the Country?!?! Are you Crazy?!
Can you imagine someone paddling across the country in a canoe? Is that even possible? It sure is! Cross Canada Canoe Odyssey is doing just that. They are a group of experienced paddlers who will be traveling across Canada by canoe in less than 170 days. Their goal is to raise awareness about Canada’s waterways and the significance of their values for the Nature Conservatory of Canada and the Canadian Heritage Rivers System.
